The iPhone 5S release is expected to be announced towards the last quarter of the year. The iPhone 6 release could happen anytime in the first half of 2014. At least these are what the rumours are saying. Apple smart phone rumours vary across several virtual rumour mills. But when it comes to release dates, there seems to be enough reason to believe a refresh is coming this year.

There are several reasons why Apple fans can hardly wait for the next iPhone releases. iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 will reportedly arrive in colours. A wrap around display could be in the works, according to some analysts and sources. iOS 7 will change the smart phone and phablet game, they say.

Every day, iPhone shoppers and the Apple curious are playing sleuths to find out a new information on the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 release dates. But this time, Apple CEO Tim Cook is not keeping everyone in the dark. One, Cook has said there will be no new Apple releases until late 2013. Two, Cook is not keeping Apple fans' hopes for a phablet iPhone 6.

"Some customers value large screen size, others value other factors such as resolution, colour quality, white balance, brightness, reflectivity, screen longevity, power consumption, portability, compatibility with apps and many things," Cook has been quoted as saying.

"Our competitors had made some significant trade-offs in many of these areas in order to ship a larger display. We would not ship a larger display iPhone while these trade-offs exist," he stated. But there is no telling whether Apple will soon overcome these so-called trade-offs.

Could the iPhone 6 arrive as a phablet? Some shoppers trust the June 2014 release for the iPhone 6 rumour. Apple could be ready by then to release larger displays with minimal trade-offs. This only means one thing for iPhone fans who are not fond of large displays: Get the iPhone 5S, the classic design could be going extinct.
