In two months' time, the iPhone 5S is slated for a reveal in Apple's WWDC, but it seems that the iPhone 6 is gaining more attention and momentum despite the lack of even rumored specifications and features, and its slated reveal that's still potentially an entire year from now.
From mock-ups to concept trailers, the iPhone 6 is generating a bigger buzz. According to Phones Review, the main reason for this dip in iPhone 5S interest is its lack of breakthrough features. In fact, there hasn't even been any reports on the iPhone 5S having the iOS 7 in its make, so this already defeats the purpose of a major breakthrough.
And considering the one-year gap between the two smartphones, it's safe to say that the iPhone 6 will carry the iOS 7 when it gets released. In fact, there have been reports and concept features that depict the iPhone 6 to be running on the iOS 7.
Gotta Be Mobile reports that so far, the iPhone 6 has been rumored to have a 4.8-inch display that may be flexible, as well as a potential Retina + display.
Another possible solution here is that the next iPhone that may be released will-meaning the iPhone that will be revealed in June-will actually be named iPhone 6, which changes the game completely, reports Network World.
In any case, this whether or not the next smartphone that arrives is the iPhone 5S or the iPhone 6, the main question is in the breakthrough features and function that it will offer. Otherwise, it will be a make or break decision, especially with the recent bit of news that Verizon has recently announced.
Verizon: Choose between iPhone 5S or iPhone 6
In line with this, Verizon has recently announced that iPhone upgrades can't be done after 20 months anymore.
According to Cult of Mac, the carrier has just ended the early upgrade eligibility program so users will, now have to wait until their entire 2-year contract expires before upgrading phones.
"This change aligns the upgrade date with the contract end date and is consistent with how the majority of customers purchase new phones today," said Verizon in an official press statement.
This directly puts customers who are looking at the next batch of iPhones, specifically the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 6. In a few months, the iPhone 5S will hit the market, but the iPhone 6 is not scheduled until next year.
Stabley Times reports that, because of this Verizon subscribers may be put at odds-whether they would buy the iPhone 5S and wait two years to get the iPhone 6 (or will it be the iPhone 6S by then?), or if they will wait it out until the release of the iPhone 6 in 2014.
It's a tough choice, but if Verizon's arrangement takes off, it's only a matter of time until other carriers start following suit.
